At SI Container Builds, we believe buildings can do more than provide shelter — they can provide safety, stability, and a path forward.
We are honored to be the builder behind a 6,400-square-foot residential facility for Shelter, Inc. created to house and support several girls who are survivors of human trafficking in Northern Illinois. Developed in partnership with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, this specialized and secure home fills a critical service gap across Illinois and surrounding areas.

A Safe, Therapeutic Environment
This facility is purpose-built to provide:
A secure, confidential setting
Trauma-informed care
Educational support
Access to legal assistance
Specialized recovery services
Every design decision was made with safety, dignity, and healing in mind. The goal was to create a space that feels supportive — not institutional — while maintaining the highest standards of protection.
Addressing a Critical Need
Survivors of human trafficking require highly specialized care that traditional placements often cannot provide. Under the leadership of Christina Gaytan, Director of Anti-Trafficking & Prevention, Shelter Inc.’s survivor-centered program focuses on both immediate stabilization and long-term outcomes.
The initiative offers not only temporary refuge, but pathways to permanent housing and independence — helping prevent re-victimization and support lasting recovery.
Building for Impact
At SI Container Builds, we understand that the built environment influences emotional wellbeing. Thoughtful layouts, durable materials, and warm residential design elements all work together to create a setting where healing can begin. In addition, this 6,400-square-foot home can be completed in roughly five months, compared to the typical 12–18 months for a traditional stick-built structure—meaning the girls are able to move into a safe, supportive environment much sooner and begin their healing journey.
This project represents what’s possible when mission-driven organizations collaborate to support vulnerable youth. We are proud to help build a space that provides protection, hope, and a foundation for a brighter future.
